He recounted unexpected support — including encouragement from Nobel laureate, Professor Joshua Lederburg — that further strengthened his determination to conduct research in the field. He emphasized the predictive nature of scientific research and used SARS and COVID-19 as examples to illustrate the importance of following scientific rules and rigorously preparing for scientific research.

Zhao Qianfan, student representative from School of Management and Economics, Shaw College:
"We are beneficiaries of China's modernization, and university education provides us with the opportunity to contribute to the great rejuvenation of the country."
In his speech, Zhao Qianfan, a student representative from the School of Management and Economics, Shaw College, said: "I grew up in a rural area and my grandparents are farmers. Later, I moved to Hangzhou, the provincial capital of Zhejiang, for my junior and senior high school education, and then to the Silicon Valley of China — Shenzhen — for university. My classmates and I are all beneficiaries of China's urbanization and modernization. Most fortunately, we spent the best times at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. The University, through meticulously designed courses and an internationalized campus, has provided us with a genuine global perspective and significantly fostered our leadership skills."
"More importantly, we found a passion for life. When I began my university life, I didn't know where my future would take me. I tried six different internships, took many relevant courses, talked to numerous professors, and even took a gap year. Eventually, I established my vision and hope to make a positive contribution to China's asset management industry."
