Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Cross-modal Cognitive Computing (C3 Lab)

Cross-modal cognitive computing is one of the key areas in artificial intelligence. The Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Cross-modal Cognitive Computing (C3 Lab) focuses on the research of generative large models, general cognition and explainable intelligence. It aims to emulate human cognitive process by integrating multi-modal information such as vision, hearing, and touch. The laboratory is expected to advance the state-of-the-art by providing a theoretical foundation and practical platform for AI agents. The research will be carried out in three areas: multi-modal perception platform, cognitive modeling platform and cross-modal interaction generation platform.
The C3 Lab was established with the approval of Science, Technology and Innovation Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality on January 30, 2024, affiliating with The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. Professor Li Haizhou, a Fellow of the Singapore Academy of Engineering and the Executive Dean of the School of Data Science at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, was appointed as the Director of C3 Lab. Building on years of cognitive computing research abroad, the team is now based in Shenzhen, collaborating with leading laboratories internationally. C3 Lab will promote technological innovation in application fields such as public security, public health, robotics, and digital creativity, and commercialization of technology to benefit the industry in Shenzhen and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
