On September 26, 2025, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen successfully hosted its annual Mid-Autumn Festival Gala, jointly organized by the Office of Student Affairs and the Student Union. Over 500 students and faculty gathered to celebrate the festival in advance, enjoying both the gala and an outdoor carnival.

The carnival, inspired by the “Monkey Grabs the Moon” tale, featured moon-themed and childhood-inspired activities. Performances included the university’s Kylin dance, hanfu-clad exchange students, nostalgic NPC characters, childhood song medleys, and sitcom skits. Nearly ten student clubs hosted booths such as archery, crafts, and traditional snacks.

The gala stage adopted a dynamic T-shaped design with a large folding screen for flexible scene changes. Highlights included a dramatic aerial opening dance and a “Flying Chang’e” lottery segment, blending cutting-edge stage technology with festival symbolism. An international hosting team of students from eight countries, along with performers from 11 nations in traditional attire, showcased CUHK-Shenzhen’s vibrant multicultural spirit.

Programs were entirely student-faculty co-created, from concept to staging. Standouts included a playful quiz segment where professors experienced student life firsthand. Performers from CUHK and CUHK-Shenzhen joined peers for musical collaborations that embodied the “Two Cities, One Heart” spirit.

The evening honored campus security and support staff, and concluded with a curtain call featuring all behind-the-scenes contributors.
