Kobilka Institute of Innovative Drug Discovery and Arieh Warshel Institute of ComputationalBiology are the first two Nobel laureate labs at the University. These two institutes is a significant milestone in the University’s attempt to evolve into a world research university.
Over the past two years, the Kobilka Institute of Innovative Drug Discovery has attracted young talents and established a critical mass in structural biology research. Professor Brian Kobilka, 2012 Nobel laureate in chemistry for his studies of G protein-coupled receptors, serves as Senior Advisor to the Institute. Dean of the School of Life and Health Sciences and Presidential Chair Professor, Richard Ye directs the institute for its research on membrane proteins and novel drug discovery.
