Thirteen CUHK-Shenzhen Undergraduates Selected for Oxford and Yale Visiting Student Programs
The visiting student lists for the 2022-2023 academic year at Oxford and Yale have just recently been made public. Following a rigorous worldwide selection procedure, thirteen undergraduates from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHK-Shenzhen) were selected to study at Yale or Oxford for either a semester or a full academic year. For three years running, the number of students admitted to Oxford's visiting student program at CUHK-Shenzhen has been the highest across the country.
Visiting Student Program, University of Oxford
This year, undergraduate students from fourteen prestigious Chinese universities, such as Tsinghua University and Zhejiang University, fought for just 34 spots in the University of Oxford's Visiting Students Program. For the third year in a row, CUHK-Shenzhen had the most successful candidates (eight finalists) among domestic institutions. Over the course of the five-year partnership with Oxford, a total of 29 students from 13 different majors at CUHK-Shenzhen have been accepted into the program.
Oxford's core teaching is based around tutorials, normally between two or three students and their tutor. Student-centered and personalized learning is highly valued by this prestigious university. Therefore, the Visiting Student Program places a premium on the applicant's logical reasoning and academic competence. Applicants for the Program should normally have achieved a GPA of at least 3.7 at their home institution, along with IELTS 7.0+ /TOEFL 100+ scores, a statement of study plans for the year, and two pieces of academic work. The language proof requirement will be waived for all CUHK-Shenzhen candidates. Registered visiting students will enjoy the same rights as their Oxford peers and become Oxford alumni upon completion of their studies.

Yale Visiting International Student Program (Y-VISP)
Since the signing of a partnership agreement in 2019, a total of 17 CUHK-Shenzhen students have been accepted into the Yale Visiting International Student Program (Y-VISP) via online interviews and multiple rounds of selection. With five finalists this year, CUHK-Shenzhen has one of the largest numbers of students selected for the program among the eight colleges Yale collaborates with globally.
Currently, students from the following eight partner institutions are eligible to participate in Y-VISP: CUHK-Shenzhen, The University of Hong Kong, Tecnológico de Monterrey, National University of Singapore, Waseda University, Yale-NUS College, Ashoka University, and ShanghaiTech. In general, Yale is seeking students in their third year of undergraduate studies and who are in the top 10% of their class. Y-VISP application requirements generally include the following items: Y-VISP Application, Y-VISP Personal Statements, Y-VISP Faculty Recommendations, and Academic Records. Admissions Committee also conducts interviews with qualified candidates. Y-VISP waives the English language test requirement and cuts the tuition fee by 20% for candidates from CUHK-Shenzhen in acknowledgment of the quality of its all-English instruction. Students granted admission to Y-VISP will have an assigned adviser, become fully integrated members of the Yale community and enroll in Yale undergraduate courses as their Yale peers.
