Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Mathematical Foundations for Artificial Intelligence
Guangdong Provincial Key Laboratory of Mathematical Foundations for Artificial Intelligence (Hereinafter referred to as the “Key Laboratory”) is established by the cooperation of the School of Data Science and the School of Science and Engineering of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen. Professor Zizhuo Wang, the Associate Dean (Education) of the School of Data Science, serves as the director of the Key Laboratory.
The Key Laboratory currently has more than 30 academic personnel. The focus of the Key Laboratory will be on the development of the mathematical foundations of AI. In particularly, it will seek theoretical breakthroughs in AI models and algorithms, consolidate the foundation of AI development, complementing with other key laboratories.
Through in-depth exploration and theoretical research, the Key Laboratory will establish a more complete mathematical foundations system for AI. On the one hand, it will lay a theoretical foundation for existing AI methods; On the other hand, it will generate new methods and new applications, which will further unleash the potential of AI, and ultimately support the needs for the development of AI technology.
At the same time, the establishment of the Key Laboratory will attract more well-known AI scholars, enhance the training of talents related to AI, accelerate the construction of first-class disciplines of AI in Guangdong Province, and enhance the status of Guangdong Province in national AI research. Together with other key laboratories, it will provide new opportunities for the economic development of Guangdong Province and the Greater Bay Area, strongly support the construction of an innovative society, and promote the realization of China's “all-round well-off society”.
