Performance Groups
The Chorus of CUHK-Shenzhen
The Chorus of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen is a university-level chorus. Since its establishment, adhering to the concept of innovation and diversification, the Chorus has been successful in performing a wide range of classical and popular songs in Chinese and foreign languages, including The Water Dance of Lluvia, Baba Yetu, Sogno di Volare, Bright Smile and Time to Say Goodbye. In 2023, it won the first prize in the Non-professional Choral Vocal Music Category of the Third Greater Bay Area University Students Art Festival and the first prize in the Vocal Category (Group A) of Guangdong Province the 7th Edition College Student Art Exhibition Activities. It has also performed in grand events, including 2023 concert of "A Dream of Red Mansions" with WU Bixia at Guangming Culture & Art Center, 2023 "Joys Shared with the Greater Bay Area" - Allegro Singers 59th Anniversary Concert at Hong Kong City Hall, 2023 Shekou Vocal Arts Festival, 2023 CUHK-Shenzhen Chorus Concert of Chinese Choral Works, In recent years, the Chorus is keen on A Cappella group-singing performance and adapted several popular songs, including Stars, We Are Young, Weiwei, Manta, Draw, Won't Cry and Kill This Love. The Chorus also selected some excellent A Cappella songs for audio recording and MV production. During the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic, the Chorus produced an original song Heroes in Harm's Way as a salute to the frontline workers. After nearly nine years of development, it has become an influential chorus that masters various music styles.
The Chorus of CUHK-Shenzhen Daoyuan School
The Chorus of CUHK-Shenzhen Daoyuan School was established in 2022 with an outstanding educational philosophy. It aims to build a bridge connecting students and music. The Chorus is dedicated to enhancing students' comprehensive musical qualities, refining their singing skills, deepening their musical accomplishments, and broadening their aesthetic boundaries and artistic horizons. The Chorus focuses on exquisite and exceptional music training methods, including but not limited to delicate control of breath, precise articulation, flawless intonation, and skillful blending of vocal parts. This ensures that each note flows harmoniously, weaving a tapestry of soul-stirring music. We lead our members to delve into the rich emotions and profound meanings of choral works, making them not only conveyors of musical notes but also resonators of emotions. Each singing experience becomes a baptism of the soul, igniting an infinite love and pursuit of the art of singing. The Chorus is not only the starting point of a musical journey but also the cradle for nurturing future artists. Here, each voice is endowed with unique radiance, collectively illuminating the path to the realm of refined art.
The Chorus of CUHK-Shenzhen Liwen School
The Chorus of CUHK-Shenzhen Liwen School was established in 2023. It is composed of enthusiastic and singing-loving primary students from the first and second grades, with a total of 41 members. The mission of the Chorus is to let every child enjoy the charm of choral singing. They embody a natural childlike spirit in their lively choral voices and convey the unique temperament of Liwen School through beautiful and harmonious tones.
The Chorus of CUHK-Shenzhen Zhixin School
The Chorus of CUHK-Shenzhen Zhixin School, named "Zhixin," brings together a group of curious and music-loving students. They are not only committed to acquiring new knowledge but also explore the possibilities of beautiful sound through each training. They actively participate in various art exhibitions, performances, and exchange activities in primary and secondary schools in Shenzhen and Longgang district, achieving remarkable results. The Chorus has become an important platform for showcasing the culture of Zhixin School. The participants in this performance are children from the primary section of Zhixin School, forming a vibrant and energetic team. They always uphold the philosophy of "expressing oneself, singing joyfully; uniting and cooperating, enjoying the wonders of polyphonic music." They value the cultivation of children's comprehensive music literacy and use chorus participation to enlighten their minds and purify their souls. While enjoying the beautiful sound, the Chorus also provides a platform for children to release stress and express emotions. It is hoped that chorus singing will accompany the children throughout their childhood, illuminate and guide their path of growth, and draw strength and happiness from music in their lives.
