【Guest Introduction】
LI Xingyu
Independent musician, sound artist, founder of "Whale Circus" and "52Hz Sound Cabinet".
Through the music project "Whale Circus," he has released 7 studio albums and 8 experimental albums. He initiated the art project "52Hz Sound Cabinet," which aimed at exploring auditory art spaces beyond "music." The first project, "Amazon Rainforest Sound Expedition," gained widespread attention. In 2018, he launched the "Sound Journey of the West" project, recording folk music across various regions in Xinjiang and creating fusion-style music through improvisational recordings that broke traditional composition methods. In 2024, he initiated the “An Elegy For The Ocean" project, leading a team on a sailing expedition to record underwater sounds across global oceans.
For sound artist Xingyu Li, sound is both a rational physical element and an emotional abstract expression. He excels at merging these two approaches, turning sound into his language, making it his irreplaceable and unique personal style.
On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of our university’s founding and the 5th anniversary of the University Arts Centre, we welcome the biennial campus art and cultural event - the 4th Culture & Arts Festival "CATS" (Culture Arts Technology & Science). This season's activities have officially kicked off on October 12. It encompasses visual art and performing art. Taking art as a bridge on campus, it connects with everyone.
