Abstract:
We are living in an information revolution that will significantly change our lives. This talk will cover some of the exciting directions the information revolution is creating in large data, AI, quantum computing, and Chat GPT. It will also cover topics such as pseudo random, high dimensional space, and generalization.
Speaker Profile:
John Edward Hopcroft, a world-renowned computer scientist, is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Engineering, and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, as well as a foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is a recipient of the Turing Award in 1986. He is currently a faculty of the School Science and Engineering, Distinguished Professor at Large at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, an Emeritus Professor at Cornell University and a Visiting Chair Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. He is also a globally renowned educator, having authored several early classic textbooks in the field and nurtured multiple Turing Award recipients and academicians.
