Abstract: 

The new-type energy system is a typical complex mega-system composed of multiple elements such as information, energy, environment, economy, market, and social behaviors, with its evolutionary process entailing high-dimensional uncertainty, which poses significant challenges to system analysis and optimization. To deeply parse the synergistic development paths and evolutionary laws of this system under multi-objective constraints, the lecture content will revolve around four topics: the synergistic development of the energy-environment-economy system, the holistic reduction of deterministic system evolution behaviors, candidate path evaluation methods in multi-objective programming, and evolutionary risk management under high-dimensional stochastic factors. First, it will explore the holistic reduction method for deterministic system evolution behaviors, which aims to distill the inherent deterministic dynamic mechanisms from the system’s macro behavior, providing a foundational basis for understanding the system’s evolutionary principles. Second, it will introduce the candidate path evaluation method in multi-objective programming—a systematic approach used to assess and balance the comprehensive performance of different development paths across multiple objectives including energy, environment, and economy. Third, it will elaborate strategies for addressing high-dimensional stochastic factors: by extending language models, complex uncertainty impacts are transformed into a series of representative deterministic cases to achieve effective handling of stochastic elements. Finally, it will present an innovative two-layer risk management framework, where the upper layer employs string models to realize rapid identification and prioritization of evolutionary risks, while the lower layer conducts detailed mechanistic analysis of critical risk paths using the deterministic holistic reduction method, with the two layers collaborating to tackle the challenge of analyzing the dynamic behavior mechanisms of complex mega-systems under uncertain environments. Collectively, this system forms cutting-edge analytical paradigms and decision-support tools for understanding and advancing the synergistic development of the energy-environment-economy system.

Speaker Profile:

Xue Yusheng, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, honorary president of the State Grid Electric Power Research Institute, and an expert in stability theory and power system automation. His invented EEAC (Extended Equal Area Criterion) theory has conquered the world's challenging problem of quantitative analysis of transient stability in power systems. To date, it remains the only internationally recognized quantitatively analytical method that has both undergone theoretical verification and been implemented in engineering practices. He developed the Wide-Area Power System Blackout Defense System (WARMAP), which is now applied to over 90% of provincial-level and higher power grids in China. He proposed the CPSSE (Complex Power System Sustainable Evolution) framework and an overall solution enabling power systems to proactively support energy transition, providing decision-making support for the clean energy transformation of nations, regions, and energy enterprises. Additionally, he put forward the Holistic Reductionism (WRT) theory, continuously exploring the holistic spatio-temporal mechanisms underlying emergent phenomena in complex models. He has received 1 National Science Conference Award, 1 First Prize of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, 3 Second Prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, and 2 Second Prizes of the National Technology Invention Award. He has also been honored with titles such as National Advanced Worker and the First Jiangsu Provincial Science and Technology Outstanding Contribution Award.
