The Effect of Enhanced Experiential Learning on the medical students of CUHK(SZ) to Learn and Memorize Medical Terminologies in Human Anatomy
Medical education in a foreign language always causes hindrances in learning, especially for the vast amount of medical terms. Due to the curriculum and teaching format modeled after CUHK, it is urgently needed to improve the learning skills and capacity of our medical students are Chinese academic backgrounds. Experiential learning is an efficient learning and teaching modality that could enhance students’ abilities in learning and handling knowledge. Here we propose a modified role-play mode or experiential learning approach for the students to train their human cadaveric dissecting skills and the management of medical knowledge by adding a competition followed by interactive class presentations and a series of knowledge evaluations. This aims to investigate if this approach is effective in 1) elevating their interest and confidence in medical studies, 2) improving their abilities to master anatomical terminology, and 3) accelerating learning efficiencies in human anatomy.
